The BIONICO project involves the large-scale conversion of biogas into hydrogen. The gas emitted from landfills and from the decomposition of organic waste, known as biogas, offers a green source to produce hydrogen, which can be used to produce electricity for residential, automotive or industrial applications. A novel reactor – the largest of its kind in the world – is designed to directly convert biogas into pure hydrogen, efficiently and in a single step, has been developed and implemented for this project by ICI Caldaie, which is integrating it all into one transportable system.
